About the Role
Mondi is a leading global packaging and paper company with production operations across more than 30 countries. Our innovation centre in Vienna develops sustainable packaging solutions for leading FMCG brands.
We are looking for a Packaging Technologist to support new product development and customer projects within our Consumer Packaging division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support NPD projects from concept through to production launch for paper and board-based packaging
- Conduct material testing, packaging performance assessments, and transport simulation tests
- Prepare and review technical specifications, test reports, and packaging declarations
- Liaise with graphic designers, print partners, and manufacturing sites
- Support customer sustainability assessments and eco-design briefs
- Stay current with regulatory changes including EU PPWR and food contact compliance
Requirements
- ✓Degree in Packaging Technology, Materials Science, or Food Science
- ✓1–2 years experience in packaging development, ideally in FMCG or packaging supplier
- ✓Knowledge of paper/board substrates, coatings, and printing processes
- ✓Familiarity with packaging testing standards (TAPPI, ISTA, ASTM)
- ✓Proficiency in MS Office; experience with PLM or ERP systems a plus
- ✓English required; German an advantage
